FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
HOW THE TREES GET PLANTED
It is important to know that I do not personally plant a tree for every ring I sell. I have a partnership with the US based nonprofit organisation One Tree Planted. Among many other services One Tree Planted makes sure that for every dollar donated to them, a tree gets planted for a specific project in North America, Latin America, Africa, or Asia. Within each of these regions One Tree Planted has selected reforestation partners who grow, plant and look after the trees. All donations for a specific project are pooled and then sent to the respective reforestation organization. This means that if you buy one of my rings your tree won’t be planted right away as it is important that the trees are planted when the conditions are right. When the planting session for the project you supported has started, One Tree Planted will provide updates in form of photos and information about the tree species planted, community engagement and ecological benefits.
The partnership with One Tree Planted enables me to give back what is taken from our forests and lets me offer truly sustainable jewellery. I will be supporting one of the One Tree Planted projects with a part of our profits so that a tree gets planted for every ring I sell during the one month period. The donation will be made at the end of every month. You can find more information about which project I'm supporting here.

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SOLID AND BENTWOOD RINGS
A bentwood ring is made from a strip of steamed veneer which is wrapped around its own circumference. This way only the strongest part of the wood is used giving a bentwood ring a higher durability than a solid wood ring. This is the reason why our solid rings are generally lined with a strip of veneer to get that extra strength from the bentwood technique. A solid wood ring on the other hand gives a much more natural look to the ring as all parts of the woods grain are visible. Also, unlike with the bentwood rings, you won’t get any seams on the outside of a solid wood ring (seams on bentwood rings will be more or less visible depending on the type of wood you choose for your ring).
CHOOSING YOUR CORRECT RING SIZE
Any respected jeweler can help you determine your perfect ring size. Selecting the right size when placing an order is very important as these rings cannot be resized! For more information, visit the sizing section on our website.
THE SOURCE OF OUR WOOD
For my solid wood rings, I only use leftover wood which is sourced from a local shop. The same goes for some of the veneers used for bentwood rings although I source a big part of the veneers from a trusted veneer shop. If you have any further questions regarding a specific ring feel free to send me a message.
WHERE THE RINGS ARE MANUFACTURED
All rings are 100% handcrafted by Robin Ablitzer in Zurich, Switzerland (excluding the production of any raw materials like for example veneer sheets).
THE DURABILITY OF A WOOD RING
All my rings are treated with a water-resistant varnish protecting them from occasional soaking and making them suitable for daily wearing. I recommend keeping your ring away from running water or chemicals. Also take off your ring for manual labour and handling rough objects. Generally, the same rule applies to any piece of jewellery: The more careful you treat your ring the longer it will stay beautiful.
CUSTOM ORDERS
I generally accept requests for custom orders of any kind. Unfortunately I cannot offer engravings at this time. There are also some other limitations so it is best if you send me a message with your ideas so we can work something out. It is also possible for you to send me a special piece of wood to have it made into a ring.
