About the wood

Ash normally has a very bright, almost white, colour. Its heartwood can obtain a darker colour depending on different factors which influence the trees growth. This darker heartwood shows many similarities with Olive wood and is often referred to as Olive Ash. Olive Ash is a cheaper and easier to work with alternative to real Olive wood. The wood is excellent to create turned objects and things that require a lot of flexibility and stability.
Note that the colour of your ring may slightly vary from the ones pictured above making each ring truly unique.

 

The bentwood technique explained

This ring is made by hand, using the bentwood technique. The wood is steamed and then bent around the circumference of the ring. The result of this process is a thin yet very strong ring. Note that there will always be a seam in every bentwood ring. This seam is more or less visible depending on the type of wood you ring is made of. 

 

The rings finish

The ring is treated with several layers of water-resistant varnish. To maintain a very natural look and feel, excess varnish is removed after each application. This way the ring is protected against occasional soaking while maintaining its natural feel and enhancing its colours. We strongly recommend taking it off when washing hands, dealing with chemicals or for manual labour though.
